Here’s what you can do to have the greatest impact on your skincare routine.

Taking care of your skin doesn’t have to be hard. The two greatest impacts on you daily skincare routine would be the cleansing of the skin and protecting it with a moisturizer which people of all ages should follow.

The First step is to clean and the Second is to protect.

If your skin is normal, cleansing with a product that will nourish and clean the skin is optimal.

After cleansing, use a moisturizer.

On the cleansing side…

If your skin is normal, cleansing with a product that will nourish and clean the skin is optimal.

If your skin is dry, cleansing with a product that cleans well without making the skin’s surface feel tight is best

For oily skin, you’ll want to cleanse twice a day to remove excess oil

On the protection side…

If your skin is normal, an elegant moisturizer will protect the skin by creating a ‘barrier’ between it and pollutants/irritants that cause damage to the skin if it’s not protected.

If your skin is dry, after cleansing follow with a moisturizer that replenishes the skins barrier.

If your skin is sensitive or irritated from dryness, look for a moisturizer with ceramides to protect the skin barrier. ( Cermides act like the mortar between the bricks, which in this case, are your skin cells. Cermides help hold the skin together by forming a protective layer that limits loss of moisture.)

The last point is to always include a sunscreen ~There are differences in sunscreen with the biggest difference being how they protect the skin against harmful UV rays.

Broad spectrum’ means it protects against both UVA and UVB rays

Make sure the sunscreen has an SPF of 30 or higher.

Higher SPF numbers do mean more protection but the higher you go, the smaller the difference becomes. For example,

SPF 15 filters out 93% of UVB rays while

SPF 30 sunscreens filter out about 97%

SPF 50 sunscreens filter out about 98%

SPF 100 sunscreens filter out about 99%.

No sunscreen protects your completely.

If your skin cannot tolerate traditional formulations of sunscreen, check out a mineral based sunscreen that will work better.

So, the bottom line – the point of skincare is just two things:

Cleansing and Protecting
